We arrived yesterday, and docked Capsula without issues.
We were about to go celebrate our first sail of the year when Stefano dropped one of the pins of our solar panels in the water. No big deal you would say, it is just a pin. Yes, but a marine grade one and indispensable for turning our solar panels towards the sun. Go find a marine grade specialised pin in Wick!
On the bright side, this allowed us to test the renowned helpfulness of northern Scots. The harbour master was prompt to find a magnet and Stefano managed to fish this tiny pin on the muddy bottom of the harbour. All of a sudden, smiles were back.
The harbour is the type we enjoy: a classic fisherman's harbour protected by strong stone walls with all one needs at the pontoon (water, electricity and even internet).
We checked the local castle, perched on a cliff above the water. Old Scots knew how to pick a spot.
The town itself was quiet yesterday night, very quiet. Empty streets, closed shops, rare and empty pubs. Monday effect? Or something we need to get used to given our sailing plan?
We shall see: the weather seems to have decided that we'll stay for a week, at least, as storms will be sweeping the North coast of Scotland for the coming days.
