Edinburgh to Wick - first morning at sea
We left yesterday at 11pm, a little tense as the tide was still low and the marina depth variable.
This first night of sailing went well, overall. The calm sea let us sleep between our watches and kept the seasickness at bay. It was painfully cold though (around 3C) and the absence of wind triggered a depressing engine to sailing ratio.
Dawn finally arrived. The temperature rose to a whooping 5C and the wind “picked up” to 6-8kt. The mood followed: we could finally cut off the engine and let Capsula sail slowly downwind.
The sun is now shining like rarely in Scotland, our new solar panels are producing all the energy we need. Puffins, gannets and other sea birds are out. A perfect sailing day!
